On the 25th of February our ELITE students had the opportunity to be involved in some really interesting musical activities at the UNIS school.
The school’s musician introduced the students to a short video of a man combining the sounds from a tree to create a wonderful piece of music. Inspired by this, he encouraged the students to go out and quickly find any object they can that makes a sound. Super engaged and interested, our students quickly moved out to find their objects!
The group excitedly tried a variety of things that could make sound; keys, stones, water bottles, medicine packets, balls, jackets, clapping, spoon, cups and pens. They were all such unusual things to use to create music! With the school’s musician’s encouragement, the students started to all mix the sounds together. All the different sounds coming from very normal objects amazed everyone.
Our students confidently stood up and presented their creativeness through gathering different objects they had. This experience taught us that great music is not just made from instruments or musicians but it can come from the simple things in life. More than that, they understand now that beautiful music comes from creativeness and authentic souls.
Thank you UNIS for providing our students with this wonderful learning experience and opportunity!
