In 2010 ACCV entered into partnership with the National Hospital of Paediatrics in Vietnam to provide medical support to seriously ill children requiring long term medical treatment.
The Endocrine ward in particular was the main focus, children with diseases such as Diabetes, CAH, Hypothyroidism, Osteogenesis Imperfecta etc. Unfortunately, these children are not receiving the daily medication required to sustain their health. Many of them become seriously ill or worse because of the poverty cycle the family has no escape from.
Once the children were accepted into our sponsorship program we addressed their needs on an individual basis. ACCV supported them and their family on their quest for good health and basic medical care. Many families that were supported come from rural areas hundreds of kilometres outside of Hanoi.
Thanks to the kindness of our regular sponsors, these families had the support they needed to keep their children healthy. Many of the parents we supported were daily faced with the difficult choice between buying medicines for their ill child and feeding their families. This temporary support brought these families some relief from their financial strain whilst giving them the chance to replan their lives and overcome financial difficulties.
C.E.S.P. – Christine Edith Sponsorship Program was named in memory of Alison’s mother Christine Edith Moraghan. She had a nursing background and she was a very caring human being with a soft spot for children. This project would be very close to her heart.
This project was carried out from 2010 to 2016 and in total helped over 120 disadvantaged families of severely ill children. We would like to take the chance to share some of our favourite beneficiaries’ stories with you:
