Trang lives with her parents and her older brother. When she was seven, little Trang became quite sick and with little recovery her parents took her to the hospital. They were devastated to find out that not only did she have diabetes but she also had leukaemia! We can only imagine the stress they were under as they not only feared for their child’s life but with such little income they had no way of funding the treatment she so desperately needed.
It was at this point Trang’s parents were introduced to ACCV and we agreed to help them with the financial aspects of Trang’s treatment, while they focused on caring for their child.
The leukemia treatment really took a toll on Trang, particularly when her hair fell out. She became quite self-conscious, not wanting to see anyone or go outside to play with her friends. To help her feel more confident, Trang’s mother bought her a little wig and some hair clips. This made an enormous difference for Trang, she felt confident enough to go back to school and to see her friends.
Being able to go to school has been really important to Trang. She has continued to go whenever she could. There have been times that she was just too sick to leave home but her teachers and classmates are always willing to help her to catch up on any school work she misses. Trang hopes that she will be better soon and she won’t need to go back to the hospital.
Trang’s parents wanted to share their gratitude for ACCV and Trang’s sponsors as they know that without the support she would not be as healthy as she is and their family would have slid further into poverty.
They also mentioned how proud they are of their little girl, she’s very brave, and is always ready to offer a smile to anyone she meets.
Hopefully, Trang’s toughest days are behind her.
We’re so pleased that we are able to help Trang and her family. We are fully aware that it is only possible because of the support we receive from friends of ACCV.
We’d like to send a huge thank you!!
