One of ACCV programs, “A Brighter Tomorrow” worked with individuals and families to break the poverty cycle using education and support.
The main objective of this program was to enable disadvantaged children and youth to continue their education, ultimately increasing the potential of the recipient child and to assist their family in breaking the cycle of poverty.
The beneficiaries in the Brighter Tomorrow program came from very poor families in Hanoi and the Bac Ninh province. These children were faced with no option but to leave school due to the dire financial situation of the family. The families of children in this program faced great difficulty in providing even the basic necessities of life such as food and shelter so financing their child’s education was beyond their means.
We worked with a number of families, and like families all over the world, they come in all different shapes and sizes. Little Tuan & his grandmother, Thao, her mother & aunt, Cong & his mother, the Pham siblings. Many of the families we supported had been fractured in one way or another. Parents have died, absconded, become ill, incarcerated, sometimes all of the above…
Since the Brighter tomorrow program began in 2007, we have achieved positive outcomes with a number of children who have been provided with the opportunity to continue their education. Many children we have supported have completed their education and family situations have improved.
Our ultimate goal and focus was to help these families to help themselves which we believe we achieved.
